Online Therapy for Teens in Michigan & Washington
Growing up isn’t easy and it’s especially tough when it looks like everyone else has it together, but you don’t. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by school, friends, extracurricular activities, family responsibilities, and the ever-looming future. You notice yourself re-playing social interactions over and over in your head, wishing you had said or done something differently. Sometimes it feels like it’s easier to be alone than to have friends. You’re hard on yourself, even when you get A’s because you probably could have done something better. You struggle to sleep at night because you can’t get out of your head.
What if things really could be different? What if you could get the support you need so that you could create the kind of life that you want?

Frequently Asked Questions
What will I/my teen learn in therapy?
While I offer a safe space for teens to express themselves and process their experiences, it’s important that we just don’t talk. I want to help you to develop new skills that will help you in your daily life so that the same kind of problems you’re having don’t repeat themselves. This includes things like:
- Mindfulness techniques (great for reducing anxiety & stress!)
- Assertive communication skills, such as setting boundaries & reducing conflict
- Exercises & activities to explore your personal strengths & build self-esteem
What types of therapy modalities do you use with teens?
There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy and each client has unique needs. I have been trained in…
- Brainspotting
- EMDR
- Acceptance and Committment Therapy (ACT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Expressive arts
I draw from each of these in my work. I am also a certified Therapeutic Game Master, and when appropriate, can incorporate TTRPGS in my work with clients.
I’m a parent of a teen, how involved will I be in their therapy?
Great question! You are the expert on your child and during the intake assessment, I will meet with you and your teen separately to talk about what has been going on. After the intake, it’s understandable that you would want regular updates about what they’re working on in therapy. With that being said, it’s important for your teen to feel comfortable to open up in therapy and to do that, they need to have a space that is private. Your teen will have the same level of confidentiality as any of my adult clients, with the exception of the legal limits of confidentiality. However, if there is any information (such as skills they’re working on) that would be helpful for you to know, I will work with your teen and encourage them to share the information with you or bring you into session to discuss it. Parental involvement is vital to therapy, so I always seek to create healthy lines of communication between teens and their parents with openness, respect, and healthy boundaries.
How often will appointments be?
Most teens start with weekly appointments and transition to biweekly as appropriate. Frequency of sessions tapers down from there as they meet their treatment goals and get ready for discharge.
Do you provide custody recommendations?
No, that is outside the scope of my practice.
